The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) at SiliconTech organized the All-India Power Engineers’ Meet (AIPEM) SPARK Engineers’ Congress Symposium on ‘Emerging Technologies, Now and Next….’ on 17 December 2023.
The objective of this meet was to provide exposure to the well-researched views of experts in various sectors of engineering.
AIPEM-2023 comprised of two panel discussions. Each session began with an expert talk which was followed by a discussion among the luminaries from industry and academia.
The first session started with a talk by Mr. Steve Horsley, Director of Sales, Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA)-Asia at SertecSRL. Mr. Horsley spoke about lightning protection using deionization. The first panel discussed ‘Emerging Technology on Electrical Power System Automation, Digitalization on System Stability’. The session was chaired by Mr. KVS Baba former Chief Managing Director (CMD) of Power System Operation Corporation Limited (POSOCO) and moderated by Mr. P.K. Pattanaik, Senior General Manager at Odisha Power Transmission Corporation Limited (OPTCL).
The panel members comprised of Shri. Bhadresh Bachubhai Mehta, Director of State Load Dispatch Centre (SLDC), OPTCL, Mr. S Gopa Kumar, Managing Director (MD) of Cape India Pvt. Ltd., Dr. Rajaram Shinde Director, Prayog Electrical Pvt. Ltd., Mr. Raj Singh Niranjan, Managing Partner, Trans India Law Associates, Dr. Chandrasekhar Reddy Atla Deputy General Manager (DGM), Power Research & Development Consultants Private Limited (PRDC) and Mr. Saugato Mondal Senior DGM, Grid Controller of India.
The first session concluded with an expert talk by Mr. Alok Kumar, Area Manager East, SDT Ultrasound Solutions India Pvt. Ltd. in which he discussed partial discharge detection through ultrasound technology.
The second session began with a talk by Mr. Balasaheb Thete, Senior Account Manager at GE Grid Solutions on the advanced device management for electrical sub-stations.
The second panel discussed about ‘Emerging Technologies on Electrical Equipment and Products… Now & Next’. The session was chaired by Mr. R.N. Nayak former Chief Managing Director (CMD), Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL), and moderated by Mr. P.K. Pattanaik. The panel members comprised of Mr. Y V Joshi, Senior Technical Expert, Yash High Voltage & former Engineering Head at Gujarat Energy Transmission Corporation Limited (GETCO), Mr. S Gopa Kumar, Dr. Aradhana Ray, Tech Director at Laxmi Associates, Mr. Ruhul Islam, Senior Technical Expert at Altanova and Mr. Mahender CH, Application Engineer at Hitachi Energy Ltd.
The intellectual sponsorship partners of AIPEM 2023 were IEEE Bhubaneswar Sub-Section PES and IES Chapter and All India Power Engineers’ Group (SPARK… Ignited to share). The technical partners were PRDC, OPTCL, IEEE(IES), Yash High Voltage, Cape Electric, ECE Industries Ltd., OM Technical Solutions, Kusam-Meco, SDT-ultrasound Solutions, Saptrishi Consultancy Services Ltd., JK Risk Managers and Laxmi Associates.
A total of one hundred and sixty participants including students, faculty members, and industry experts attended the meet.
AIPEM 2023 was convened by Dr. Ramprasad Panda, Professor, EEE, and coordinated by Dr. Tapas Kumar Maji, Assistant Professor, EEE. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation and was a resounding success.
