Entrepreneurship Development Cell

SiliconTech established the Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC) in 2011 to encourage and promote entrepreneurship among the students. Financial assistance from the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) helped set up the ED Cell. The Department of Science & Technology (DST), Government of India helped financially to organize various activities.

The ED Cell primarily aims to train and motivate students to start businesses. It provides an enabling environment for entrepreneurial innovation, creates opportunities for self-employment through formal and non-formal programs, and trains students to have an intrapreneurial spirit and mindset in their future workplaces.

SiliconTech is placed under Band 151-300 in the category of ‘Private Colleges’ in the NIRF Rankings 2023 for ‘Innovation’ by the Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India. The NIRF (National Institutional Ranking Framework) Rankings for ‘Innovation’ was previously known as the ARIIA (Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievement).

Entrepreneurship Development Cell is the advisory and coordination department for entrepreneurship on campus. It anchors the work of SiliconTech’s Business Incubator and Institute Innovation Council, two hubs that promote entrepreneurship within the institute and in Odisha.

ED Cell Highlights

The ED Cell hosts activities throughout the year to promote entrepreneurship in the state of Odisha. Students and startup founders benefit from awareness camps, expert talks, entrepreneurship and faculty development programs, workshops and annual fests. Competitions on business plan, idea generation, product prototypes, and proof of concept widen the exposure for incubatees and enrich their knowledge and networks.
