Silicon Institute of Technology, Bhubaneswar (SiliconTech), collaborated with the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell and the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) to host the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) Regional Meet on 18 December 2023. It is the first time that an institute in Odisha has been selected to host the IIC Regional Meet.
The event was part of a nationwide initiative, with the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell and AICTE planning regional meets in 20 different cities across the country.
The objective of the regional meet was to provide a significant networking platform for educational institutions. It featured Start-up Demonstration Stalls, Poster Competition, Udyam Bazar (Entrepreneurs’ Market), Round Table Discussion, Regional IIC Consortium Meeting, Knowledge Sharing Sessions by IIC Institutions and the YUKTI Innovation Challenge.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by Dr. Raghab Prasad Dash, AICTE Advisor-1, Prof. (Dr.) Omkar Nath Mohanty, Director of Technology & Academic Initiative at RSB MetalTech, Pune and Former Vice-Chancellor, BPUT, and Mr. Dipan Sahu, Assistant Innovation Director, Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell. Prof. (Dr.) Jaideep Talukdar, Principal of SiliconTech delivered the welcome address. Dr. Mahendra Prasad Agasty, President of the IIC at SiliconTech shared the aims and objectives of this meeting. Mr. Dipan Sahu highlighted that the objectives of the regional meet are aligned with the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, an initiative by PM Narendra Modi to foster the social and economic advancement of the country. He further emphasized that this is the golden time to take entrepreneurship as a career. Prof. Omkar Nath Mohanty appreciated IIC’s role in fostering innovation among the students. Dr. Raghab Prasad Dash accentuated the role of innovation in making our country self-reliant and truly independent. The vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Tapas Kumar Maji, Convenor of the IIC at SiliconTech.
Students and faculty members from various schools and colleges across the country participated in the regional meet to showcase their innovative skills. The winners of all the events were awarded prizes and all the participants were felicitated with certificates of appreciation. The event was a resounding success which fostered collaboration and catalysed creativity.
