The Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) Students Chapter at SiliconTech, the engineering institute of Silicon University, collaborated with the Silicon Innovation and Promotion Cell (SIPC) to organize ‘Hack-O-12’, a hackathon on 27 April 2024.
The objective of the event help participants enhance their time management, collaboration, problem-solving, and coding skills while fostering creativity. It encouraged them to brainstorm quick solutions for real-world challenges and inspired them to apply their technical expertise to address urgent issues in various industries like education and healthcare.
The ‘Hack-O-12′ competition evaluated the participants’ logical reasoning and problem-solving skills under time constraints. Participants generated ideas in various areas like the Internet of Things (IoT), Augmented Reality & Virtual Reality (AR/VR), finance tech (FinTech), social impact, and education tech (EdTech). Each team used different technologies to implement their concepts. Judges evaluated the teams based on creativity, application, code understanding, maintainability, and scalability.
A total of ninety seven students formed various teams to participate in the event. The winner was team ‘Genesis’ comprising of Priyanshu Mallick, Anshuman Nayak, Chandan Kumar Nayak, and Badal Samal from the B.Tech. 2025 graduating batch. The second prize was won by the team ‘Patia Pirates’ including Lavkush Solanki, Rahul Kumar Singh, Piyush Kumar, Tushar Kanta Padhiary, and Subham Kumar from the B.Tech. 2026 graduating batch. Team ‘Tech Wizards’ with Subhranshu Sahoo, Antaryami Sahoo, Ashutosh Acharya, Soumya Ranjan Swain, and Arunima Mohapatra from the B.Tech. 2025 graduating batch won the third prize.
This competition equipped the participants with valuable skills to tackle future challenges and seize opportunities in both academic and professional settings.
