SiliconTech organizes ‘Open Sword 2024’, a literary competition

SiliconTech, the engineering institute of Silicon University, organized ‘Open Sword 2024’, a literary competition on 26 September 2024. The competition was based on the theme of ‘friendship’.

The objective of the event was to foster spontaneous thought and expression among participants while celebrating the theme of friendship. It sought to inspire meaningful discussions on friendship, enhance communication skills through engaging activities, and promote teamwork and collaboration. Additionally, the event provided a platform for personal reflections on the significance of friendship, encouraging participants to share their experiences and insights. By highlighting shared experiences through interactive sessions, the event also aimed to strengthen the sense of community among attendees.

The event was divided into two engaging segments designed to foster spontaneous thought and expression. The first segment featured an extempore session where individual participants spoke on various aspects of friendship. Each participant was given a friendship-related topic and had to present their thoughts within a limited time, showcasing their quick thinking, eloquence, and creativity. This format provided an opportunity for participants to share personal experiences and reflections, resulting in thought-provoking insights and heartfelt messages.

The second segment was more dynamic, emphasizing teamwork. Participants were divided into four teams, each assigned a unique, on-the-spot topic related to friendship. The challenge was to prepare a one-minute response and present it to the audience, testing their collaboration, communication skills, and ability to craft compelling narratives under pressure.

The event attracted thirty participants and successfully celebrated the theme of friendship through engaging and interactive sessions. It left participants with lasting insights and a strengthened sense of community. Banshita Sen and Priyanshu Das were awarded for their notable performances.
