SiliconTech, the engineering institute of Silicon University, organized talk on ‘Sustainable Forestry for a Greener Future’ to celebrate the World Forestry Day on 21 March 2025.
The objective of the event was to raise awareness about the significance of sustainable forestry practices in maintaining ecological balance and fostering sustainable development. By focusing on the importance of forest management and community involvement, the session aimed to inspire attendees to contribute to environmental preservation. The event featured two distinguished speakers, viz., Dr. Anup Kumar Nayak, a retired Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer, and Ms. Sasmita Lenka, an Odisha Forest Service (OFS) officer. Dr. Nayak shared his expertise on responsible forest management, while Ms. Lenka emphasized the importance of community engagement in forest conservation, offering valuable insights into the role of local communities in preserving natural resources.
