Silicon University organizes a Faculty Development Program on ‘Design Thinking, Critical Thinking, and Innovation Design’

The Entrepreneurship Development Cell (ED Cell) and the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) of Silicon University organized a Faculty Development Program (FDP) on ‘Design Thinking, Critical Thinking, and Innovation Design’ on 19 February 2025.

The objective of the program was to equip participants with essential skills in design thinking, critical thinking, and innovation design to enhance their problem-solving and entrepreneurial abilities. It aimed to foster a mindset of creativity, empathy, and strategic decision-making, essential for aspiring entrepreneurs.

The session was led by Mr. Deepak Chaudhury, Founder of Success Leaf, who shared valuable insights into key facets of entrepreneurship. He began by introducing the concept of Design Thinking, presenting it as a structured, human-centered approach to problem-solving that demands empathy, curiosity, and the courage to think beyond conventional boundaries. Mr. Chaudhury urged participants to cultivate an open-minded attitude and actively seek feedback on prototypes to enhance their designs.

The discussion then shifted to Critical Thinking, which Mr. Chaudhury described as the ability to ask meaningful questions and critically evaluate arguments. He emphasized the importance of analyzing situations from multiple angles before making crucial decisions. Clarity of thought, coupled with learning from diverse perspectives, he noted, is fundamental to effective decision-making and entrepreneurial success.

Finally, Mr. Chaudhury introduced the concept of Innovation Design, explaining how design tools and methods can be harnessed to develop innovative, user-centered solutions. He encouraged participants to remain empathetic toward users’ needs and creatively leverage technology to drive meaningful innovation.

The session empowered attendees with practical strategies to enhance their problem-solving, decision-making, and innovation skills, which are essential qualities for aspiring entrepreneurs aiming to create a lasting impact in their respective fields.
