The Eco-Social Club at SiliconTech, the engineering institute of Silicon University, collaborated with the Nature and Wildlife Conservation Society of Odisha to organize a plantation drive on 7 July 2025 to celebrate ‘Van Mahotsav 2025’.
The objective of observing ‘Van Mahotsav’, meaning the ‘Festival of Trees’, is to promote afforestation and raise awareness about the critical role of trees and forests in maintaining ecological balance and supporting sustainable development. This annual initiative encourages citizens to actively participate in environmental conservation efforts. It highlights the harmful effects of deforestation and the need to preserve our natural resources, especially during the monsoon season, which offers favorable conditions for sapling growth. By planting trees, we aim to mitigate climate change, protect biodiversity, and ensure a healthier environment for future generations.
During the event, members of the Eco-Social Club led the plantation activities, guiding volunteers and encouraging dialogue on environmental responsibilities. The drive served as a powerful reminder of the collective role individuals can play in protecting nature. The planting activity created a sense of unity and purpose among participants, fostering a deeper appreciation for green initiatives.
A total of fifty participants planted saplings to mark this environmental initiative. The event highlighted SiliconTech’s commitment to environmental sustainability and community engagement.
