The Meta Academics Cell at SiliconTech, the engineering institute of Silicon University, organized the Azad Hind Event on 12 & 13 August 2025 as part of the Independence Day celebrations.
The objective of the Azad Hind Event was to provide a platform for students to reflect on and express their perspectives regarding India’s journey to freedom, its present, and its aspirations for the future. By encouraging participation in essay writing and public speaking, the event aimed to foster critical thinking, creativity, and a deeper connection to national values. Topics were shared in advance, allowing participants to prepare and present well-structured thoughts around key themes.
Held across two days, the event featured an essay competition and a speech competition with enthusiastic participation from students. Each session began with a warm welcome by the hosts, who outlined the event flow and underscored the importance of student expression in honoring the nation’s independence.
On 12 August, the essay competition saw eleven participants present insightful and thought-provoking essays that highlighted diverse viewpoints on India’s independence and responsibilities ahead. The speech competition on 13 August featured eight passionate speakers who addressed themes of freedom, unity, and progress with clarity and conviction. Our judges Dr. Subashree Ojha, Mr. Sarthak Padhi, and Mr. Rohit Kar offered valuable feedback to the participants, encouraging further refinement of content and delivery.
With nineteen participants in total and meaningful engagement from students and evaluators, the Azad Hind Event 2025 was an impactful initiative. It served not only as a tribute to India’s Independence but also as a testament to the power of student voices in shaping thoughtful discourse on the nation’s future.
