SiliconTech, the engineering institute of Silicon University, organized an Internal Hackathon for Smart India Hackathon (SIH) 2025 on 19 and 20 September 2025, as part of the nationwide initiative launched by the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell.
The objective of the Internal Hackathon was to identify and select innovative and capable student teams to represent Silicon University at the Smart India Hackathon 2025, a premier national-level competition. The event provided a platform for students to solve real-world problems using technology and creative thinking.
Participants developed projects on various themes such as smart automation, blockchain and cybersecurity, med-tech/bio-tech/health-tech, smart education, heritage and culture, and fin-tech, to propose solutions that were practical and impactful.
The jury for the software and hardware competition comprised both external and internal experts. The external jury members included Mr. Sarada Raj, Consultant at TCS, Mr. Rohit Padhi, Technology Architect at Infosys, and Mr. Himansu Sekhar Praharaj, Manager at Reliance Jio. The internal jury panel featured distinguished faculty from Silicon University, namely Dr. Sudhansu Mohan Biswal, Associate Professor, Mr. Satish Das, Assistant Professor, Dr. Pradipta Kumar Pattanayak, Associate Professor, Dr. Arabinda Dash, Assistant Professor, Dr. Rajesh Kumar Ojha, Assistant Professor, Mr. Rabinarayan Mohanty, Assistant Professor, and Dr. Suvendu Chandan Nayak, Senior Assistant Professor. Their collective expertise and valuable insights ensured a fair and comprehensive evaluation of the projects presented.
The Internal Hackathon was smoothly coordinated by the university’s Single Point of Contact (SPOC), who facilitated communication with the SIH portal, guided students through the idea submission process, and oversaw the efficient execution of the event.
The two-day event was filled with enthusiasm, innovation, and a sense of healthy competition. The Internal Hackathon simulated the real experience of the national SIH event held at nodal centers and inspired students to apply their academic knowledge to real-world challenges. The event concluded on a high note, reinforcing Silicon University’s commitment to fostering innovation, collaboration, and excellence among its students.
