The Department of Computer Science & Engineering (CSE), at SiliconTech, the engineering institute of Silicon University, organized a hands-on training program titled ‘AI for Beginners’, every Saturday from 30 August – 20 September 2025.
The objective of the program was to introduce participants to the fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its real-world applications, while also equipping them with hands-on experience using modern AI tools. Through interactive sessions and live demonstrations, the initiative aimed to bridge the gap between academic concepts and industry practices. The program also sought to build confidence among students and faculty in exploring AI technologies for academic, research, and project-based work.
The program was held every Saturday over four consecutive weeks, with 4-hour sessions. The sessions were mentored by Mr. Akash Dash, an esteemed alumnus of the department and currently a Data & AI Engineer at Accenture. A total of twenty-five participants, including 5th semester B.Tech. CSE students, faculty members, and technical assistants from the department, took part in the program, which combined theoretical knowledge with practical, industry-oriented insights.
Each session was carefully curated to build on previous concepts while progressively introducing more advanced topics. The first two sessions focused on the basics of AI, LLMs, prompt engineering, and tools such as ChatGPT, Gemini, and Google AI Studio. Participants also learned to develop and deploy AI-powered web applications using platforms like Vercel. The third session introduced Agentic and Multimodal AI, while the final session emphasized practical applications, automation, AI ethics, and included a project showcase and feedback round, allowing participants to present their learnings.
The ‘AI for Beginners’ program was a resounding success, generating strong engagement and curiosity among all attendees. Participants left the sessions with a solid foundation in AI, enhanced technical skills, and a broader understanding of how AI is transforming industries. The department sincerely thanked Mr. Akash Dash for his time, mentorship, and commitment to the growth of the academic community. His guidance played a crucial role in making the program both impactful and inspiring.
