India celebrated its 77th Republic Day on 26 January 2026. To commemorate the historic occasion, Silicon University held the Republic Day celebration on campus.
Republic Day is celebrated in India to mark the adoption of the Indian Constitution which came into effect on 26 January 1950. It is celebrated all over the country to remind the citizens of their rights and duties fostering a sense of national pride.
The National Service Scheme (NSS) unit at Silicon organized the Tiranga Yatra on 26 January 2026 as a part of the Republic Day celebrations, bringing together faculty members, staff, and students in a collective expression of patriotism and national pride. The event began with a flag hoisting ceremony, followed by the national anthem, creating an atmosphere of respect and unity. It was a vibrant display of enthusiasm and discipline from the participants, all of whom were committed to celebrating the spirit of the nation.
The primary objective of the Tiranga Yatra was to promote patriotism, national unity, and social responsibility among students. In line with the NSS motto, ‘Not Me, But You’, the event aimed to inspire the youth to contribute to society and the nation, focusing on the importance of the Indian Constitution and the role of young people in nation-building. The initiative encouraged students to reflect on their responsibilities as citizens and fostered a sense of selfless service and commitment to national progress.
Following the formal ceremony, a Tiranga Yatra procession took place, where NSS volunteers participated actively by holding the national flag and chanting patriotic slogans.
