Staff Welfare Committee organizes an awareness session on Corporate NPS

The Staff Welfare Committee (SWC) of Silicon University organized a session on Corporate NPS on 14 February 2026.

The session aimed to familiarize staff with the National Pension System (NPS), covering its structure, key benefits, and enrolment process, while also providing guidance on opening and managing an NPS account. Through practical insights and the latest updates, it sought to enable staff to make informed financial decisions and adopt a structured approach to retirement planning.

The session began with a warm welcome for the resource person, Ms. Neelam Roy Bhattacharya, Associate Regional Head, Retirement and Pension, HDFC Life, followed by a PowerPoint presentation and an interactive question-and-answer session. The event provided a platform for staff members to understand retirement planning in a structured and engaging way. During the session, Ms. Bhattacharya explained the significance of Corporate NPS and the two types of accounts—Tier I and Tier II. She also highlighted recent updates introduced by the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA), including revised exit guidelines, available pension schemes, and charges associated with Points of Presence (POP). The session provided detailed information on investment options under NPS and its tax benefits. The interactive format encouraged participants to ask questions and clarified doubts, ensuring a clear understanding of the system.

The session concluded with a vote of thanks and delivered tangible outcomes, as the speaker guided participants through the enrolment process and facilitated the opening of 5–6 NPS accounts. With a total of fifty-six participants, the session proved both informative and impactful in enhancing awareness of retirement planning. It strengthened financial literacy among staff and reflected the SWC’s commitment to supporting employees in making well-informed decisions about their long-term financial security.
