The Google Developer Groups on Campus (GDG) at SiliconTech, the engineering institute of Silicon University, organized Dev Express every Friday and Saturday, from 30 January to 14 February 2026.
The main objectives of Dev Express were to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical applications, encourage project-based learning, and foster a builder mindset among students. By combining conceptual sessions with hands-on workshops, participants were able to explore modern tools and frameworks while gaining confidence in developing real-world projects.
The event served as a structured skill sprint designed to introduce students to cutting-edge technologies including AI/ML, web development, app development, game development, and cybersecurity. The inauguration set the tone for a series of interactive sessions guided by experienced GDG mentors. The event proceeded in a phased manner – initial sessions focused on conceptual understanding of AI/ML, web development, app development, and game development, followed by hands-on workshops. The final days were dedicated to project development and presentation, particularly in game development, web development, app development, and cybersecurity. This structure allowed students to apply their learning in practical scenarios while collaborating with peers.
A total of sixty students participated, guided by GDG mentors and technical leads at SiliconTech including Mrityunjoy Sahoo, Aditya Sharma, Aditya Kumar Singh, and Ishaan Sinha. The sessions successfully combined knowledge sharing with project-based learning, enabling participants to build real-world projects and strengthen their technical skills. The event concluded with a vote of thanks, acknowledging the contributions of both mentors and participants.
