Department of Basic Sciences and Humanities organizes a National Conference on Science, Humanities, Social Sciences and Management

The Department of Basic Sciences and Humanities (BSH) organized a National Conference on Science, Humanities, Social Sciences and Management (CSHSSM 2026) on 10 and 11 April 2026.

The primary objective of the conference was to provide an interdisciplinary platform for researchers and academicians to present their research findings, exchange innovative ideas, and foster collaboration across diverse fields of study. It also aimed to promote discussions on emerging trends, encourage multidisciplinary research, strengthen academia–industry interaction, and inspire young researchers to contribute to knowledge creation in line with contemporary societal and technological needs.

The two-day national conference brought together academicians, researchers, scholars, students, and industry professionals from various institutions to deliberate on contemporary issues and advancements in science, humanities, social sciences, and management. The conference received 41 research papers and recorded 59 registered participants, including 20 participants from external institutions, reflecting its wide academic reach and interdisciplinary appeal.

The program featured one keynote lecture and five invited lectures delivered by eminent academicians from reputed institutions. The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Ranjan Kumar Bal, Former Vice-Chancellor, ASBM University, Bhubaneswar, on ‘Indian Knowledge System and NEP 2020: Issues and Challenges’.

The invited lectures covered a diverse range of topics across science, technology, economics, literature, and mathematics. Dr. Kulamani Parida, Professor of Chemistry, SOA Deemed to be University, Bhubaneswar, delivered a lecture on ‘Multifunctional Photocatalysts for Energy and Clean Water: Hydrogen Production, Antibiotic Degradation and Antibacterial Performance’. Dr. Ramakrushna Panigrahi, Professor of Economics, IMI Bhubaneswar, spoke on ‘Challenges to Management Practices and Economic Policies in Contemporary Geopolitical Uncertainty’. Dr. Tanutrushna Panigrahi, Buxi Jagabandhu Chair Professor, Utkal University, delivered a lecture on ‘Beyond the Postcolonial: The New Realist Impulse in Contemporary Indian English Fiction’. Dr. Sudarsan Padhy, Former Professor, Utkal University, spoke on ‘Mathematics and ML in Financial Market: Pricing, Risk Management, and Portfolio Design’, and Dr. Saroj Kanta Misra, Professor of Mathematics, Silicon University, delivered a lecture on ‘Revisiting Triangles and Tetrahedrons in the Geometry We See’.

Technical sessions were conducted for the presentation of all 41 research papers, covering a wide range of topics in science, humanities, social sciences, and management. The presentations facilitated meaningful academic discussions, constructive feedback, and exchange of ideas among participants, creating opportunities for networking and future collaborations. The conference concluded successfully, achieving its objectives of promoting interdisciplinary research, academic excellence, and knowledge sharing, while reinforcing the department’s commitment to fostering a vibrant research culture.
