Department of Basic Sciences and Humanities organizes the 6th National Seminar on ‘Functional Materials for Emerging Technology’

The Department of Basic Sciences & Humanities (BSH) at SiliconTech, the engineering institute of Silicon University, organized its 6th National Seminar on ‘Functional Materials for Emerging Technology’ (FMET-2024) on 29 and 30 March2024.

The objective of the seminar was to provide a forum to create awareness about the recent advances in Functional Materials and their applications in different sectors. It aimed to enrich the understanding and active interactions among scientists, technologists, & engineers. Furthermore, it provided a common platform for students, academicians, and researchers to share their innovative ideas.

The seminar featured eminent speakers from reputed Research & Development organizations, academic institutions, and industries to facilitate interactions and discussions on the recent trends in materials processing, characterization, and its applications.

The expert talks were delivered by Dr. Kulamani Parida from Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan University, Dr. Pranati Nayak from Institute of Chemical Technology, Dr. Bikash Kumar Jena from CSIR-Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology, Dr. Satya Prakash Sahoo from Institute of Physics, and Dr. Satyaprasad P Senanayak from National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER), Bhubaneswar.

A poster presentation competition was organized in FMET-2024. A total of fifteen posters were presented in the event and the two best-presented posters were awarded prizes in the seminar.

A total of fifty seven researchers, academicians, and industry experts participated in FMET-2024 to learn about the new methodologies of materials development and their applications in different areas.
