Department of EEE in collaboration with Indian Energy Congressconducts a National Seminar on ‘Renewable Energy Technology: Perspectives and Future Challenges for a Green World’

The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) at Silicon Institute of Technology, Bhubaneswar (SiliconTech)  in collaboration with Indian Energy Congress (IEC) conducted a one-day National Seminar on ‘Renewable Energy Technology: Perspectives and Future Challenges for a Green World’ on 14 May 2022.

The objective of the seminar was to provide a common platform for discussing the various steps that must be taken to deal with the impending energy crisis in the forthcoming decades.

Shri. Bishnupada Sethi, IAS, Chairman, OHPC (Odisha Hydro Power Corporation) Ltd. graced the inaugural session as Chief Guest. Sri. AnupamSaha, IAS, State Project Director, OPEPA (Odisha Primary Education Program Authority) and Sri. Bhaskar Sarkar, CEO, TPNODL (Tata Power Northern Odisha Distribution Limited) joined the seminar as Guests of Honour.  Professor Chandan Kumar Chanda from the Department of Electrical Engineering, IIEST (Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology) Shibpur, Howrah delivered the keynote address.

Dr. Pravakar Swain, President of the Indian Energy Congress, presided over the program. Dr. Ramaprasad Panda, SiliconTech, Bhubaneswar, Dr. C. N. Bhende, IIT Bhubaneswar, Dr. Priyabrata Patnaik, Secretary & Director, OERC (Odisha Electricity Regulatory Committee), and Dr. Srinivas Bhaskar Karanki, IIT Bhubaneswar joined the seminar as invited speakers and spoke on intermittency in grid connected renewables, e-mobility, status of promotion of renewable energy in Odisha and empowering India’s rural population with renewable energy respectively.

More than 120 delegates representing various government sectors, research and development organizations, technical institutions and energy production and distribution agencies attended the seminar.
