Department of EEE in collaboration with PCRA and IEEE students’ chapter conducts an Awareness Program on Energy Conservation

The Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering (EEE) in collaboration with the Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA) and IEEE students’ chapter conducted an awareness program on Energy Conservation and ISO 50001:2018 EnMS on 31 March 2022.

PCRA is a non-profit organization working under the aegis of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Government of India. It organizes awareness campaigns for the conservation of petroleum products, fuel oil utilization studies, energy audits, the development of oil consumption norms, driver training programs, workshops, exhibitions, consumer meets, educational films/TV spots etc.

The keynote speaker for the program was Mr. Sribatsa Panda, a former Director-General of Business Excellence at SAIL’s Bokaro Steel Plant, presently working for PCRA as an External Faculty (Industry). Mr. Panda has specialized in Total Quality Management (TQM) and International Management Systems. He is also an International Lead Auditor for ISO 9001 QMS (2015 version), ISO 14001 EMS (2015 version), ISO 45001 OH & SMS (2018 version), ISO 50001 EnMS (2018 version), OHSAS 18000 (2007 version) & SA 8000 (2008 version) Management Systems.

The speaker was outstanding in imparting awareness to students about energy usage as a national perspective, conservation, and preservation of energy at different stages to combat climate change effects. He also discussed the International Standard ISO 50001, which outlines the requirements for setting up, implementing, maintaining, and improving an energy management system.

 Over 90 participants attended this offline, engaging, and educational session.
