The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) at SiliconTech organized a field visit to Tata Power Central Odisha Distribution Limited (TPCODL), Bhubaneswar for the 7th semester EEE students on 18 November 2023.
This field visit was organized under the ‘train to hire’ initiative of Tata Power. The objective of this field visit was to give the students an exposure to the operations and infrastructure of power distribution.
During this field visit, our students visited the SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) Centre, meter testing lab, Skill Development Centre, electric substation, and automated substation in two groups. The objective was to get firsthand knowledge about power systems equipment, protection, and functioning of the substation. They were able to learn about the workings of the SCADA system and remote monitoring system of TPCODL.
The visit was coordinated by Mr. Laxmi Narayan Pathy, Senior Assistant Professor, EEE, and Mr. Sk. Roshan Ali, Technical Assistant, EEE. A total of twenty eight students benefitted from this visit and enriched their knowledge about the power distribution process.
