The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) at SiliconTech, the engineering institute of Silicon University, organized an AICTE-VAANI sponsored National Workshop on ‘Energy Efficiency and Sustainable Development in the Era of Climate Change’ from 31 July to 2 August 2025.
The primary objective of the workshop was to promote technical discourse in Indian languages, specifically Odia, under the initiative of AICTE-VAANI (Vibrant Advocacy for Advancement and Nurturing of Indian Languages) in collaboration with the ATAL (AICTE Training and Learning) Academy. It aimed to encourage awareness and knowledge-sharing on sustainable energy practices while fostering the use of regional languages in the academic and scientific community. Through its multilingual approach, the workshop sought to bridge the gap between advanced technical knowledge and local linguistic accessibility.
The welcome session began with an address by Prof. Saroj Kanta Misra, Advisor, Silicon University, followed by Prof. Ramaprasad Panda, Professor of EEE, who emphasized sustainability-driven academic engagement. The Chief Guest, Mr. P. K. Pattanaik, Director (Operations), OPTCL, Bhubaneswar, spoke on future-ready power strategies, while the Guest of Honour, Mr. A. K. Tripathy, Former Director General, CPRI, Bengaluru, highlighted the role of renewable energy in grid stability. The inaugural session concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Lopamudra Mitra, Associate Professor, EEE.
Over the course of the workshop, a series of insightful technical sessions were conducted by distinguished experts, including Dr. R. K. Behera from IIT Patna and Dr. S. R. Samantaray from IIT Bhubaneswar. The sessions spanned a diverse range of themes such as renewable integration, energy audits, digitalization, and smart grid technologies, offering participants a comprehensive understanding of emerging trends in the power and energy sector.
The three-day event brought together academic experts, researchers, and industry professionals to deliberate on pressing issues of energy efficiency, sustainability, and climate change mitigation strategies. It served as a meaningful platform for knowledge exchange and collaborative dialogue.
The workshop was coordinated by Dr. Lopamudra Mitra, and co-coordinated by Dr. Pratap Ranjan Mohanty, Senior Assistant Professor, EEE. A total of fifty-seven participants from reputed institutions such as NIST Berhampur, VSSUT Burla, CV Raman Global University, KIIT, IGIT Sarang, OUTR, and Centurion University actively engaged in the deliberations, enriching the discussions with their perspectives.
