The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) at SiliconTech, the engineering institute of Silicon University, collaborated with the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) student chapter, IEEE Power and Energy Society (PES) student chapter, IEEE Transportation Electrification Council (TEC) student chapter and the Silicon Innovation and Promotion Cell (SIPC) to organize ‘Bot League’, a robotic race on 19 April 2025. The event was organized under the UDAAN initiative, which aims to foster Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education.
The objective of the event was to promote experiential learning by engaging students in the design, construction, and testing of functional robots to address real-time challenges. It fostered teamwork and collaboration through team-based competitions and problem-solving activities, encouraging participants to work collectively in tackling complex tasks. Additionally, the event served as a platform to showcase emerging talent and ignite interest in robotics, automation, and engineering design, inspiring students to further explore and hone their skills in these dynamic and rapidly evolving fields.
The event showcased an exhilarating robotics race, where student-built robots competed in speed and obstacle-based challenges. A total of sixteen teams, each comprising three members, took part in the competition. The event unfolded through qualifying rounds, semi-finals, and a thrilling grand finale. Teams impressed the audience and judges with their technical prowess, innovative designs, and cohesive teamwork. After several intense and engaging rounds, the top three teams were recognized for their exceptional performance and creativity in overcoming the robotics challenges.
The first prize was awarded to Team Kapidhwaj, comprising Nikhil Kumar Rout (1st year, EIE), Asish Kumar Panigrahi (1st year, EIE), and Amit Boity (1st year, ECE). The second prize went to Team Hot Pursuit, consisting of Anubhav Mohanty (2nd year, EEE), Girija Shankar Mishra (2nd year, ECE), and Aditi Sharma (2nd year, ECE). Team Code Blooded Racers secured the third prize with members Shrutiarya Biswal (3rd year, CST), Pratik Kumar Singh (1st year, EEE), and Abhisek Behera (1st year, EEE).
The Bot League successfully achieved its objectives by offering a dynamic, hands-on platform that encouraged innovation, teamwork, and the development of technical skills. It nurtured creativity and collaboration among students and helped them deepen their practical understanding of robotics and automation. The event underscored its value in fostering a culture of skill-building and innovation within the academic community by sparking enthusiasm for engineering design and problem-solving.
