ED Cell organizes a webinar on ‘Intellectual Property Rights and IP Management for Start-Up’

SiliconTech’s Entrepreneurship Development Cell (ED Cell) and Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) organized a webinar on ‘Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and IP Management for Start-Up’ under the mentor-mentee program – an initiative by the Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India, on 12 May 2022.

The objective of the webinar was to explain the concepts of IPR and IP Management and make the participants aware about it. Dr. Mahendra Prasad Agasty, FIC, ED Cell, gave the welcome address.

The webinar was conducted by Dr. T. Pavan Kumar, Senior Scientist, Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology (IMMT), Bhubaneswar. Dr. Kumar opined  Intellectual Property (IP) as creations of the mind that include inventions, literary and artistic work and symbols, names, images, and designs used in commerce. He explained IP evolution and also listed the different forms of IPR such as patents, trademarks, designs, geographical indications, copyright, integrated circuits, etc.

More than 100 students from all the mentee institutes including Bengal Institute of Technology, West Bengal, Royal Global University, Assam, Model Mahila College, Jharkhand, Gandhi Institute for Engineering and Technology, Bhubaneswar and Dr. Ambedkar Memorial Institute of Information Technology & Management Science (DAMITS), Rourkela participated in the deliberations.
