The Entrepreneurship Development Cell (ED Cell) at SiliconTech, the engineering institute of Silicon University, organized an expert talk on ‘AI for Atmanirbhar Bharat’ on 9 February 2026.
The primary objectives of the expert talk were to familiarize participants with the practical applications of Artificial Intelligence (AI) across industries, highlight emerging security and privacy challenges, emphasize the importance of building secure and scalable AI systems, and inspire students to contribute to India’s technological self-reliance. The session aimed to provide insights into responsible AI development, industry expectations, career opportunities, and ethical considerations for deploying AI-driven solutions.
The session was delivered by Dr. Debabrata Nayak, a cybersecurity and AI security expert with a Ph.D. from IIT Bombay, currently associated with PwC India. The program began with a welcome address by Dr. Mahendra Prasad Agasty, Professor of Economics, and Faculty-in-Charge of ED cell. During the session, Dr. Nayak shared real-world examples of AI applications and discussed the growing relevance of AI beyond academic learning. He highlighted key challenges in AI security, privacy, and scalability, and demonstrated how AI innovations can be leveraged to strengthen India’s digital ecosystem. Participants were encouraged to think creatively about developing ethical, secure, and impactful AI solutions. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from hundred students and faculty members, reflecting keen interest in emerging AI technologies.
Overall, the expert talk was highly engaging and informative. It enhanced participants’ understanding of AI technologies, ethical AI practices, and industry requirements.
