Industry Interface Cell organizes an expert talk on ‘R&D, Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Engineering Sciences’

Silicon West’s Industry Interface Cell (II Cell) organised an expert talk on ‘R&D, Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Engineering Sciences’ by Dr. Bijay Kumar Sahu, Head of the Technology Innovation Support Centre & Intellectual Property Facilitation Centre, National Research Development Corporation (NRDC), Government of India on 26 November 2022.

The objective of this talk was to create an awareness about the wide scope available in the fields of research, innovation and entrepreneurship especially in engineering sciences and encourage students to undertake projects and activities in these areas.

Prof. Mihir Hota, Dean, delivered the welcome address and shared his thoughts on research and innovation. The speaker, Dr. Bijay Kumar Sahu then discussed the need for innovative thinking in order for the nation to advance. He discussed about the wide range of opportunities in the areas of scientific and technological innovations and explained how the various innovative ideas are supported and facilitated by the Government of India through NRDC. He also urged the students to come up with innovative ideas that can significantly address the gaps and problems through technological interventions. Finally, he concluded by highlighting the role of NRDC in making the potential ideas a reality.

The vote of thanks was proposed by Siddheswar Ojha, CSE (2023). More than 100 participants including students, staff and faculty members attended the event.
