The Industry Interface Cell (II Cell) at Silicon University organized an industrial visit to the NALCO Captive Power Plant (CPP), Angul on 13 June 2026 as part of the Summer Internship Program.
The visit was aimed at providing students with practical exposure to large-scale thermal power generation and familiarizing them with industrial power production processes. During the visit, students gained firsthand insights into the operation of thermal power generation units and the role of captive power plants in supporting industrial operations. They observed key facilities, including boilers, turbines from designated safe viewing areas, and various auxiliary systems responsible for ensuring a continuous and reliable power supply to NALCO’s aluminum smelter complex.
Experienced technical professionals guided the students through different sections of the plant, explaining the principles of power generation, equipment operation, and the integration of various systems required for efficient plant performance. The interaction enabled students to relate theoretical concepts with real-world industrial applications.
The visit was conducted with strict adherence to established safety standards and operational protocols, ensuring a safe and informative learning experience. It enhanced students’ understanding of thermal power generation, industrial energy management, and operational best practices, preparing them for future careers in the power and energy sector.
