Manisha Priyadarshini Sahoo wins one lakh rupees seed amount in the 12th edition of Young India Challenge

Manisha Priyadarshini Sahoo from the B.Tech. CSE batch of 2024 won one lakh rupees seed amount for her proposed idea in the 12th edition of Young India Challenge organized by Human Circle, Delhi at SiliconTech on 25 and 26 March 2023.

The 12th edition of Young India Challenge was held with the objective of finding a sustainable, innovative, and systemic solution for the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 12 and 13. The delegates were divided into ten groups. They worked together under the mentorship of experts to develop a proposal (idea/project) focusing on one specific challenge related to SDG 12 or 13. They also had to design a social media awareness campaign that can be implemented within six months and contribute towards the sustainability goals of our country.

Manisha along with her team ‘One Piece’ comprising of Biswajit Maity, a final year B.Tech. student at Nalanda Institute of Technology, Jharkhand, K. Nupur Temani, a final year B.A. (Economics) student at Kumuraguru College of Liberal Arts and Science, Tamil Nadu, Kabya Sambad, Managing Director, SDJ India, Lalmuansanga, M.Sc. (Environmental Science) student at Mizoram University and Sanket Kulkarni, Embedded Developer, Yazaki India Pvt. Ltd., Pune won the seed amount of one lakh rupees for their innovative idea.

Their project involved a community-based approach for recycling e-waste and wet waste to generate profit for the society. The project aimed at reducing waste generation and making the best use of the waste produced by balancing the prices and services.

Manisha led the project on behalf of her team. Their idea was highly appreciated by the experts. Ms. Doris Zothanchhungi, Superintendent of Mizoram Youth Commission felicitated the winners.
