Meta Academics Cell organizes ‘Open Mic 2024’, an annual literary event

The Meta Academics Cell at SiliconTech, the engineering institute of Silicon University, organized ‘Open Mic 2024’, an annual literary event on 5 December 2024.

Open Mic serves as an inclusive platform for aspiring writers, performers, comedians, and storytellers to showcase their creativity and talent. The event emphasizes the art of writing and speaking, celebrating the power of words and emotions.

Open to all students, the event provided an engaging and enjoyable experience for both participants and the audience. A rigorous selection process was conducted to identify participants, with evaluations based on the quality and relevance of their submissions. The screening adhered to specific rules and guidelines, including time limits for presentations, ensuring fairness and a seamless experience for all involved.

The event saw enthusiastic participation, with a total of 48 registrations, out of which 14 finalists were selected to showcase their talents. To keep the audience entertained throughout the program, three engaging filler performances were interspersed between the main acts.

Awards were presented in two categories- Judges’ Choice and Audience Choice. Voting for the Audience Choice category was conducted through four dedicated voting booths. To ensure fairness, voters’ authenticity was verified using their college ID cards, and a stamp on their hands enforced the ‘one person, one vote’ rule.

In the Judges’ Choice category, Aradhana Das, a 3rd-year student from the CEN department, captivated the audience and judges with her poetry performance, earning the top spot. The runner-up was Prachi Pratyasha Das, a 2nd-year ECE student, who impressed the audience with her compelling ‘Tell-a-Tale’ piece. For the Audience Choice category, the winner was Gourab Mahakud, a 1st-year CSE student, whose poetry resonated deeply with the crowd. The runner-up was Girish Bhardwaj, a 4th-year CST student, who enthralled listeners with his ‘Tell-a-Tale’ performance.

The event celebrated creativity and talent, inspiring the audience, and motivating the participants.
