The Industry Interface Cell (II Cell) of Silicon successfully facilitated the 7th semester and 8th semester Practice School (PS) program for the B.Tech. 2024 graduating batch from 10 July 2023 to 21 June 2024. The PS program recorded a remarkable growth in student participation, industry engagement, and core-sector involvement compared to the previous batches, reflecting the strengthening impact of experiential learning under the autonomy framework.
A total of 37 students from the 2024 batch completed their PS in the 7th semester, while 224 students opted for Practice School in the 8th semester, joining more than 50 companies. In total, 261 students from the B.Tech. 2024 batch opted for the Practice School program in their final year.
The PS program also witnessed a substantial rise in the number of PS stations, with participation from more than 50 organizations across software, product, VLSI, research, and core engineering domains. The growing participation of core-sector organizations highlighted the expanding industry trust in the PS framework and the industry-readiness of Silicon students.
The selected students worked on real-life projects aligned with the latest industry technologies and received a monthly stipend ranging from INR 8,000 to INR 60,000 during their PS tenure. More than 70% of the selected students received stipends in the range of INR 15,000 to INR 35,000, while a majority of the students were also expected to receive pre-placement offers (PPOs) upon successful completion of their PS program.
The PS drive witnessed participation from several reputed organizations across software, product, and core engineering domains. The participating PS stations included ApMoSys, Argusoft, Ernst & Young, Glosity, Haber Technology, Headout, Incture, Kaynes Technology, Mindfire Solutions, PRDC, PwC, Sanmina, Signicent, Surya Digitech, Teleglobal International, Vodafone Idea, ZeonAI, along with many other emerging and established organizations.
The Practice School (PS) program of Silicon University successfully completed three years with the 2024 graduating batch. The three-year snapshot of the PS program revealed that student participation in PS more than doubled in 2024 compared to the 2022 batch, while the number of PS stations also more than doubled during the same period. Notably, the number of PS stations in the core sector increased by nearly three times in 2024 as compared to 2022, highlighting the growing confidence of core engineering industries in the Practice School model.
The consistent growth in student participation, the expanding network of PS stations, the rising presence of core-sector companies, and the increasing likelihood of pre-placement offers underline the strengthening of industry–academia collaboration under the Practice School program, positioning Silicon as a leading institution in experiential and industry-integrated learning.
