The Robotics Club and Circuit Club of SiliconTech jointly organized NIRMAN 2.0 under the patronage of the Student Innovation and Promotion Cell (SIPC) from 15 – 17 February 2023.
NIRMAN 2.0 is the second edition of the technological festival NIRMAN. The first edition was organized at SiliconTech in April 2022.
The objective of this event was to help the students gain and explore their technical expertise. Students got a chance to turntheir ideas into reality. They built prototype models and competed with students of various institutes. This event also initiated the participants to the culture of startup and innovation ecosystem.
Mr. Subrata Mohanty, Group General Manager (Systems), NALCO (National Aluminium Company Ltd) graced the event as the chief guest. He inaugurated the event and delivered a talk on ‘Role of an Engineer in Current Technology’. The inaugural ceremony was attended by Dr. Saroj Kanta Misra, our Director, Dr. Jaideep Talukdar, our Principal, Dr. Jayashree Das, Dean, Research and Chairperson, SIPC and Dr. Sudhansu Mohan Biswal, Convenor, SIPC.
Various events like Line Follower, Robo Race, Hacknation and Idea Presentation were conducted in NIRMAN 2.0 in line with the motto ‘Rise with Technology’.
A total of 720 students participated across different events. The participants came from different colleges across the state including NISER, VSSUT Burla, IGIT Sarang, IIIT Bhubaneswar, KIIT, ITER, CV Raman, OUTR (formerly CET), GITA, GIETGunpur, Parala Maharaja Engineering College, Central Tool Room & Training Centre, Ravenshaw University, Khallikote University, BIITM, Trident, Nalanda Institute of Technology and Einstein Engineering College.
SiliconTech students won numerous prizes in various events. In ‘Line Follower’ competition team ‘CHITTI 2.0’ comprising of Biswajit Parida, Arindam Chakrabarty, and SmrutiSikha won the first prize and team ‘The Spartans’ withPriyabratOmm Kumar, Surbhi SaswatiMohanty, Jagannath Patra and Ansuman Panda won the third prize. Similarly, in ‘Idea Presentation’ competition our team DEDSEC comprising Sujeet Kumar Rath, Akash Kumar Dash,Manas Ranjan Padhy andNakkina Baba Sai won the second prize and team ‘Brainstorm Bandits’ formed by Anirudh Panda, Nishikanta Ray and SumeetNaik won the third prize. Furthermore, team Init with SachitTarway, Sanket Dash, Anshu Priya and Victor Vikrant Lakra won the third prize in Hacknation.All the winners of the various events were awarded prizes and certificatesin the valedictory function.
The event concluded with the formal vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Sudhansu Mohan Biswal. NIRMAN 2.0 was coordinated by Dr. Biswal along with Dr. Satish Kumar Das, Asst. Prof., ECE and the student volunteers of Circuit and Robotics club.
