Silicon University celebrates India’s 78th Independence Day

SiliconTech, the engineering institute of Silicon University, celebrated the 78th Independence Day on 15 August 2024 to commemorate India’s freedom struggle and foster a sense of unity and patriotism among the students and faculty members.

India celebrates Independence Day on 15 August every year to mark a pivotal moment in the nation’s history. After nearly two centuries under British rule, India achieved its hard-earned freedom on this day, symbolizing the victory of a relentless and resolute struggle for independence.

The Independence Day celebration at Silicon began with our Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Jaideep Talukdar, proudly hoisting the national flag. This was followed by a unified rendition of the national anthem, sung by the staff, students, and assembled audience. In his address, Dr. Talukdar reflected on the nation’s remarkable progress and highlighted the challenges that lie ahead. He also underscored the vital responsibilities of citizens in preserving and nurturing a just and free society.

As part of the Independence Day celebrations, the Silicon Green Club (SGC) and Youth for Sustainability (YfS) club came together to organize a plantation drive titled ‘Sowing Seeds of Plants,’ held in the nursery to promote sustainability and environmental stewardship.

The celebrations also featured vibrant cultural performances by our students. The Silicon Creative Club made a special effort to decorate the campus in the colours of saffron, white, and green, creating an atmosphere that truly captured the spirit of the joyous occasion.
