Silicon University commemorated its First Anniversary on January 31, 2025, celebrating a year of academic excellence, innovation, and institutional growth. Founded in 2001, Silicon Institute of Technology, Bhubaneswar was upgraded to Silicon University on 31 January 2024.
The occasion was marked by a series of events and initiatives that highlighted the university’s achievements and its ongoing commitment to academic and research excellence.
The event was graced by the presence of distinguished dignitaries, including Nobel Laureate (2018) Prof. James P. Allison, Dr. Hinco J. Gierman, Vice President of Precision Oncology at Elephas, USA, and Prof. Padmanee Sharma from MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, Texas, USA. The celebration was further enriched by the presence of esteemed medical professionals and students from 18 states across India, including Future Bhubaneswar School (FBS), Bhubaneswar, and Rishi Valley School, Andhra Pradesh, all of whom contributed to making the anniversary commemoration remarkable.
Dr. Jaideep Talukdar, our Vice-Chancellor, reflected on the university’s remarkable achievements and outlined its vision for the future, while the esteemed guests shared valuable insights on education and research.
A key highlight of the event was the student quiz competition, ‘Know Your University’, designed to foster institutional pride and deepen awareness among participants. The competition witnessed enthusiastic participation, with Vaishnavi Singh (CSE, 2026), Om Prakash Yashwant Panda (ECE, 2026), Anmol Singh (CEN, 2026), Sumit Singh (EEE, 2026), S. N. Parsuram Swain (EIE, 2027), and Shubham Kumar Jha (ECE, 2027) emerging as winners. The competition was a resounding success, reinforcing a sense of pride and engagement among students while celebrating their knowledge and connection to the university.
