India celebrated its 76th Republic Day on 26 January 2025. To commemorate the historic occasion, SiliconTech, the engineering institute of Silicon University, celebrated Republic Day on campus.
Republic Day is celebrated in India to mark the adoption of the Indian Constitution that came into effect on 26 January 1950. It is celebrated across the country to remind the citizens of their rights and duties fostering a sense of national pride.
The Republic Day celebrations began with the unfurling of the national flag and an inspiring speech by Dr. Jaideep Talukdar, our Vice-Chancellor. He highlighted the significance of upholding the Constitution to ensure justice, equality, and liberty for all citizens. Dr. Talukdar paid tribute to the founding fathers of modern India, including Mahatma Gandhi and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. He concluded with a call to action to protect India’s cultural diversity and eliminate corruption, illiteracy, and social inequality.
The event continued with a heartfelt rendition of the national anthem, setting a solemn and respectful tone. This was followed by a vibrant showcase of cultural performances by the students, reflecting the diversity and spirit of the occasion. Students from the Meta Academics Cell delivered inspiring speeches, eloquently capturing the significance of the celebration. Adding to the artistic brilliance, the Cultural Society of Silicon (CSS) enthralled the audience with a soulful musical performance and a captivating mono-act. The heartfelt performances resonated deeply with the audience, evoking a profound sense of patriotism and unity.
The celebrations concluded with a shared commitment to uphold the core values enshrined in our constitution.
