The Entrepreneurship Development Cell (ED Cell) and Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) of SiliconTech, the engineering institute of Silicon University, celebrated World Entrepreneurs’ Day on 21 August 2025 to honor the entrepreneurial spirit, motivate budding innovators, and cultivate a culture of creativity, leadership, and self-reliance among students.
The celebration aimed to expose students to the opportunities available through platforms like the ED Cell, IIC, and the university’s Incubation Centre by engaging them in discussions, activities, and knowledge-sharing. It served as a stepping stone for young minds to think beyond conventional career paths and consider impactful entrepreneurial ventures.
The session opened with a warm welcome address, followed by a brief overview of the day’s significance, emphasizing the role of entrepreneurship in driving progress and transformation. The highlight of the celebration was an insightful keynote address by Dr. Mahendra Prasad Agasty, President of IIC and Faculty-in-Charge of the ED Cell. He spoke about the critical role entrepreneurship plays in nation-building and encouraged students to explore and utilize the innovation support mechanisms provided by the university. Esteemed IIC faculty members including Prof. Sanghamitra Das, Prof. Arnal Pal, and Prof. Joy Chowdhury also shared their experiences and perspectives on translating academic learning into real-world solutions, inspiring students to pursue innovative ideas with confidence.
To further engage the audience, an interactive quiz on entrepreneurship and startups was conducted, which added a dynamic and competitive element to the event. The event brought together around one hundred and fifty first-year students, faculty members, and senior student leaders of the ED Cell, all united in their enthusiasm for innovation and entrepreneurship.
Students participated with enthusiasm, and the winners were awarded exciting prizes. This activity not only tested their knowledge but also deepened their understanding of startup culture in a fun and memorable way.
