Silicon University hosted its 3rd Convocation on 22 August 2026 to confer degrees upon the graduating batch, marking an important occasion in the academic journey of the University and its graduating students.
The ceremony brought together the University leadership, dignitaries, members of the Board of Governors, Board of Management and Academic Council, faculty members, staff, graduating students, parents, and other stakeholders. The event was graced by the Hon’ble Governor and Visitor, Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati, Hon’ble Chief Guest, Dr. Sirdhar Balchandra Shukla, Co-Founder and Chairman of KPOINT Video Intelligence Technology, Hon’ble Chairman, Mr. Joe Madiath, our Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Jaideep Talukdar, and our Registrar, Prof. Pradipta Kumar Mohapatra.
A total of 834 students were eligible to receive their degrees during the Convocation. Of these, 515 students registered for physical participation, while 241 students received their degrees in absentia. The remaining 78 students are expected to register subsequently and collect their degree certificates from the University. The ceremony also witnessed the participation of 418 parents, who attended the event and shared the achievements of the graduating students. The Convocation thus provided an opportunity for students and their families to celebrate their academic accomplishments and mark an important transition in their professional journeys.
The Convocation followed the established ceremonial tradition of the University, beginning with Grace Passing and the Convocation Procession to the Convocation Hall, led by the Registrar. The Hon’ble Governor formally declared the Convocation open, followed by the address of the Chief Guest and the welcome address of the Vice-Chancellor. The Dean (Instruction) presented the graduands for the conferment of degrees. A total of 834 degrees were conferred, both in person and in absentia. The ceremony also recognized academic excellence through the conferment of 4 Ph.D. degrees, 3 Gold Medals, the S. Sundararajan Best Graduate Award to Tushar Kanta Padhiary of B.Tech. CSE, merit certificates to 10 toppers across various programs, and degree certificates to 24 students who secured the best three CGPAs.
The program was conducted successfully through the coordinated efforts of the Convocation organizing committee, student volunteers, and staff coordinators. The Registrar expressed gratitude to the dignitaries for sparing their valuable time and enriching the occasion through their presence and addresses. He also acknowledged the contributions of all stakeholders involved in organizing the 3rd Convocation. The Vice-Chairman expressed his appreciation for the opportunity provided to first-year students to witness the Convocation and draw inspiration from the achievements of the graduating students. The timely completion and smooth execution of the program, including the appreciation received from the Hon’ble Governor, were significant highlights of the event.
