Silicon University celebrated a historic milestone by hosting its 1st convocation on 14 December 2024, marking a proud and emotional moment in the institution’s journey.
The program commenced with a ceremonial passing of traditions, setting the stage for the Convocation procession. Led by Prof. Pradipta Kumar Mohapatra, Registrar of the university, the procession began at Lecture Theatre-4 and proceeded with grace to the Convocation Hall. Upon arrival, our Hon’ble Chairman, Mr. Joe Madiath, formally declared the Convocation open. Our Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Dr. Jaideep Talukdar, extended a warm welcome to the esteemed dignitaries on the dais, including Chief Guest Dr. Satya Gupta, President of the VLSI Society of India, our Chairman, and members of the Board of Governors (BoG), Board of Management (BoM), and Academic Council. He also greeted the parents, guests, and the wider audience before delivering a heartfelt welcome address. This was followed by an inspiring keynote speech by the Hon’ble Chief Guest.
A total of five hundred and ninety seven students were awarded their degrees during the convocation, with three hundred and ninety three graduates receiving their degrees in person and one hundred and four in absentia. The Dean (Instruction) formally presented the graduates to the Hon’ble Chairman, who, along with the Chief Guest, conferred the degrees. The ceremony also recognized outstanding achievements, including three Gold Medallists, one Best Graduate, eight Course Toppers, and twenty-three students who secured the top three CGPA positions in their respective programs. A highlight of the event was the conferral of the prestigious S. Sundararajan Best Graduate Award to Gopinath Barat from B.Tech. CSE 2024 graduating batch, in recognition of his exemplary academic performance.
As the event concluded, Prof. Pradipta Kumar Mohapatra, our Registrar, extended heartfelt gratitude to the Hon’ble Chief Guest and the Chairman for gracing the event with their valuable time and presence. He also expressed appreciation for the collective efforts of all stakeholders whose contributions were instrumental in the successful execution of the university’s inaugural convocation. The ceremony was a landmark event, celebrating the achievements of the graduating students while marking a proud and historic chapter in Silicon’s journey.
