The Meta Academics Cell at SiliconTech, the engineering institute of Silicon University, in collaboration with Kothaghara Aama Sahitya Parivar, hosted the quarterly Odia magazine ‘Kothaghara Chatasali’ launch on 8 October 2024.
Several eminent personalities, including Smt. Ambika Swain, Chief Editor and Founder of Kothaghara, graced the event. Distinguished guests included Dr. Debi Prasanna Pattanayak, Padma Shri awardee and eminent linguist, Dr. Sanghamitra Mishra, celebrated writer and retired professor from Utkal University, Prof. Saroj Kanta Misra, Advisor at Silicon University and Dr. Ramaprasad Panda, Dean (Student Affairs) at Silicon University.
The program commenced with a speech competition in Odia on the theme ‘Bhasa ra Surakhya Pain Jubapidhi ra Abadan’ (The Role of Youth in Protecting Language). Eleven students passionately showcased their oratory skills. Shreyashree Mishra (EEE, 2026) emerged as the winner of the competition and Amlan Tripathy (CEN, 2027) became the runner-up.
The distinguished guests formally unveiled the latest edition of ‘Kothaghara Chatasali’ after the competition. Dr. Pratap Ranjan Mohanty, the event coordinator, delivered a thought-provoking address, emphasizing the vision of the magazine to promote Odia literature and cultural values among younger generations.
The event concluded with a captivating poetry recital session, where emerging poets from within and beyond SiliconTech mesmerized the audience with their original compositions, celebrating the richness of the Odia language.
