Silicon University hosts ‘Silicon Cup 2026’

SiliconTech, the engineering institute of Silicon University, hosted the Silicon Cup 2026 from 4 to 6 February 2026.

The primary objective of Silicon Cup 2026 was to motivate students to actively engage in sports and physical activities while fostering leadership, resilience, and collaborative skills. The tournament provided a platform for students from various institutions to showcase their athletic abilities, build confidence, and strengthen bonds through healthy competition. Beyond physical performance, the event also encouraged balancing academics with extracurricular pursuits, promoting the holistic development of participants.

Organized by the Sports Cell, the three-day tournament began with a formal inauguration at the university sports grounds, attended by distinguished dignitaries and faculty members. Dr. Ramaprasad Panda, Dean of Student Affairs, delivered an inspiring address highlighting the significance of sports in shaping students’ physical fitness, leadership skills, and overall personality development. The ceremony emphasized teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship, setting a positive tone for the event.

Throughout the three days, the tournament featured a wide range of sports including basketball, football, volleyball, badminton, kabaddi, chess, and table tennis. Matches were conducted across multiple venues, ensuring smooth scheduling and intense competition. Enthusiastic crowds created a lively atmosphere, while athletes demonstrated exceptional skill, determination, and teamwork, making the event both exciting and memorable.

The event concluded with a grand prize distribution ceremony honoring champions and runners-up across all categories. In men’s basketball, KIIT University emerged as the champion with Silicon University as runner-up, while in women’s basketball, Sri Sri University won the championship and Silicon University finished second. In volleyball, Sri Sri University won the winner title and Odisha University of Technology and Research (OUTR) emerged as runner-up. In football and kabaddi, Silicon University won the championships with OUTR finishing second in both events. The men’s badminton was won by Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan (SOA) University with International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Bhubaneswar as runner-up, and women’s badminton was won by KIIT University with Utkal University in the second place. In chess, BJB Autonomous College became the champion and Silicon University was the runner-up, while in table tennis, DRIEMS University emerged as the winners with OUAT finishing second.

The Silicon Cup 2026 was a resounding success, leaving lasting memories for participants, faculty members, and spectators, and reinforcing the values of sportsmanship, teamwork, and leadership.
