Silicon University inducts the 2024 B.Tech. Admission Batch

SiliconTech, the engineering institute of Silicon University, conducted an induction program for the 1st B.Tech. batch (2024-2028) under the university from 9 to 14 September 2024 in the campus. Prior to this, as per the AICTE norms, the orientation program for the new batch of students was conducted on 6 September 2024.

The objective of the induction program was to introduce students to campus facilities, academic expectations, and institutional guidelines. It also sought to promote ethical values and foster a sense of community within the college. Through a variety of activities and workshops, students were encouraged to connect with their peers and faculty, establishing a supportive and collaborative academic environment. The program was designed to ease the transition into college life and included a series of interactive sessions.

The induction program commenced with an address by our Honorable Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Jaideep Talukdar. Presentations by the heads of departments, deans, and faculty coordinators of different student clubs provided valuable insights into critical areas such as academics, examinations, research, ERP systems, industry interface, entrepreneurship, food court, transport, residence facilities, the counseling cell, and the student council.

The program was further enriched by a lineup of distinguished guest speakers who brought a wealth of knowledge and experience to the event. Dr. Ashok Kumar Sahu delivered an inspiring lecture on ‘Ethics and Human Values’, emphasizing the significance of integrity in both personal and professional spheres. In the session on career building, Mr. Abhijit Sen and Mr. Sumit Jalan provided invaluable insights into navigating the job market and developing career paths in today’s competitive landscape. Dr. Satyajit Tripathy’s thought-provoking discussion on the ‘Uses and Abuses of Social Media’ encouraged students to be mindful of their digital presence and its impact. Adding a unique perspective, Monk Sangranjit Das from ISKCON offered guidance on mental health, stressing the importance of maintaining well-being amidst academic pressures. Together, these sessions provided students with holistic tools for academic success and personal growth, fostering a strong sense of community and belonging within the college.

Silicon’s distinguished alumni significantly contributed to the induction program by sharing their valuable insights and experiences. Among the notable alumni were Shiv Shankar Patnaik (ECE, 2012), Vice President of Asset and Wealth Management at JP Morgan Chase and Co., Eijaz Rehman (ETC, 2016), who is successfully managing his family business, which includes a Bharat Petroleum petrol pump as well as tiles and ceramics, Subhendu Subudhi (CSE, 2015), Senior Mainframe Consultant/Engineer providing banking solutions for UBS at Union Bank of Switzerland Business Solutions, Pune, Akampan Gupta (ECE, 2019), currently pursuing an M.Tech in Computer Science and Data Processing from IIT Kharagpur, and Abhishek Bharadwaj (CSE, 2008), presently working with TCS. These accomplished individuals discussed how their experiences at SiliconTech have shaped their careers and contributed to their professional growth, leaving the new students motivated and inspired for the journey ahead.

The induction program concluded with engaging activities, including movie screenings, games and sports, creative workshops, quizzes, and speeches. Guided meditation sessions also offered students a chance to unwind and reflect. These activities encouraged creativity, teamwork, and self-expression, ensuring that the induction experience was enriching and memorable for all participants.
