Silicon University organizes a Blood Donation Camp

The Eco-Social club at SiliconTech, the engineering institute of Silicon University, collaborated with the Red Cross team from the Capital Hospital, Unit-6, to organize a Blood Donation Camp on 17 September 2025. This event marked the first initiative under the Silver Jubilee Celebrations of the university, symbolizing a meaningful start to a year of commemorations.

The objective of the Blood Donation Camp was to promote voluntary blood donation and raise awareness about its life-saving impact. Through this initiative, the university aimed to instill a strong sense of social responsibility among its members and contribute meaningfully to public health needs. The event also served as a platform to educate participants on the significance of regular blood donation and its critical role in emergency healthcare. It reflected Silicon’s commitment to integrating civic values into campus life.

The camp was inaugurated by Dr. Jaideep Talukdar, our Vice-Chancellor. He emphasized the importance of such socially driven activities. He encouraged students, faculty members, and staff to actively participate in promoting a culture of voluntary service and community engagement. The inauguration was graced by Dr. Saroj Kanta Misra, our Advisor, Dr. Ramaprasad Panda, Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Biswajit Baral, Faculty-in-Charge, Silicon Students’ Council, and Mr. Subrat Kumar Sahu, Faculty Coordinator, Eco-Social Club, whose presence underscored our unified commitment to the cause.

The Red Cross team provided professional medical support, including equipment and expert personnel, ensuring a safe and smooth process. The camp saw an overwhelming response, with 184 donors comprising students, faculty members, and staff.

The event highlighted Silicon’s active role in fostering a compassionate and socially responsible campus culture. It set a powerful tone for the Silver Jubilee year, reinforcing the values of service, unity, and human impact.
