SiliconTech, the engineering institute of Silicon University, conducted its first Faculty Connect Program on 11 May 2024.
The objective of the program was to provide a common forum for all university faculty members to comprehend and deliberate on all significant academic procedures and undertakings.
The program began with a welcome address by the Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Jaideep Talukdar. Dr. Debabrata Kar, Dean (Instruction), discussed important changes in the academic regulations and curriculum structure. Dr. Saroj Kanta Misra then provided an overview of Silicon’s teaching-learning practices and explained the assessment procedures, including preparation, question formulation, test administration, examination, and evaluation. Afterward, Dr. Ramaprasad Panda, Dean (Student Affairs), gave a brief presentation on the Silicon University admissions procedure. Dr. Chittaranjan Behera, Faculty-in-Charge, ERP Systems, described the mentorship program for students.
In the post-lunch session, Dr. Panda outlined the roles and responsibilities of instructors in various classroom activities. Dr. Manoranjan Behera, Dean (Research & Consultancy), discussed the updated Ph.D. rules along with the resources, awards, and plans available for research at Silicon. The final speaker, Prof. Pradipta Kumar Mohapatra, Registrar, covered essential HR aspects.
Dr. Saroj Kanta Misra concluded the event with closing remarks, highlighting that the Faculty Connect program will be a regular activity. Faculty members will convene quarterly to discuss academic procedures and activities, and share experiences from Silicon’s dynamic academic environment. The entire event was moderated and anchored by Dr. Misra.
