The Departments of Computer Science & Engineering (CSE) and Computer Applications at SiliconTech, the engineering institute of Silicon University, hosted a national workshop on Optimization Methods from 26 December 2025 to 3 January 2026.
The objective of the workshop was to provide participants with both a strong theoretical foundation and practical experience in optimization methods. The workshop covered classical and modern optimization techniques, equipping attendees with the tools necessary for solving complex problems in fields like computer science, engineering, data science, and operations research. Participants were expected to leave the event with a comprehensive understanding of various optimization algorithms and how they can be applied to real-world scenarios.
Dr. Saroj Kanta Misra, Professor of Mathematics at SiliconTech, contributed as the esteemed resource person for the workshop. He structured the sessions to introduce participants to a wide range of optimization strategies, from traditional methods like Linear Programming to more contemporary approaches such as Evolutionary Algorithms and Swarm Intelligence. Dr. Misra’s practical insights and expertise were instrumental in bridging the gap between theory and practice, ensuring that participants could apply what they learned to actual engineering and computational challenges.
The event aimed at advancing participants’ knowledge in the field of optimization. A total of twenty-five participants, including students, professionals, and researchers, attended the workshop to deepen their understanding of optimization techniques and their applications. Through a series of lectures and hands-on sessions, the workshop provided an excellent platform for learning and collaboration in a rapidly evolving field.
The workshop culminated with a vote of thanks, where the organizers expressed gratitude to Dr. Misra for his valuable contributions and to all the participants for their active engagement throughout the event. The success of the workshop highlighted the importance of optimization techniques in solving real-world problems, making it a highly enriching experience for all involved.
