Silicon University organizes a one-day hands-on session on ‘Embedded Systems & Live Simulation of E-Vehicles’

The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) at SiliconTech, the engineering institute of Silicon University, collaborated with the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Students Chapter and IEEE-PES Bhubaneswar Sub-section to organize a one-day hands-on session on ‘Embedded Systems & Live Simulation of E-Vehicles’ on 31 August 2024.

The objective of the session was to provide a foundational understanding of the role of embedded systems in electric vehicles (EVs) and to offer hands-on experience in working with microcontrollers, sensors, and development kits. Participants aimed to gain practical skills in reading sensor data, controlling actuators, and simulating the control of EV components using platforms like Arduino and Raspberry Pi. The session also focused on developing the ability to set up and manage simulations for virtual EV components, which are integral to understanding the complex systems that power modern electric vehicles.

The session was led by Mr. Taj Mobasir and Mr. Amit Kumar Palai, industry trainers from Logiczap NextGen Technologies, Kolkata. They introduced the participants to the role of embedded systems in electric vehicles (EVs). The expert speakers guided participants through hands-on exercises involving microcontrollers and sensors, emphasizing essential programming tasks such as reading sensor data and controlling actuators. Participants were also introduced to development kits like Arduino and Raspberry Pi, equipping them with the necessary skills to work with embedded systems. Additionally, they were instructed on setting up simulations to control virtual EV components, further enriching their understanding of how embedded systems function in EVs.

A total of sixty-two students actively participated in the session. Their active engagement in practical exercises with microcontrollers, sensors, and development kits like Arduino and Raspberry Pi contributed significantly to the overall success of the session. Their dedication and involvement made the event highly productive and effective.
