The Industry Interface Cell (II Cell) at SiliconTech, the engineering institute of Silicon University, organized an insightful seminar titled ‘Sharpen Your Edge – Academics, Attitude and Ability’ on 29 August 2025.
The primary objective of the seminar was to guide final-year students in enhancing their academic foundations, developing a professional attitude, and cultivating industry-relevant skills. These three pillars—academics, attitude, and ability—were emphasized as essential elements for succeeding in placement drives and laying the groundwork for a successful career. The session aimed to bridge the gap between academic learning and corporate expectations by offering students practical insights from industry veterans.
Mr. G. D. Sharma, Independent Director, Consultant, and Former President–HR, BGR Energy Systems Ltd. delivered a powerful and engaging session. Drawing from his extensive leadership experience at organizations such as Larsen & Toubro and Vedanta Resources PLC, he highlighted the importance of mastering core academic concepts, nurturing a proactive and positive professional outlook, and honing real-world problem-solving skills. His talk was highly interactive, encouraging students to reflect on their career goals and ask questions about aligning their strengths with industry demands.
