The Department of Electronics Engineering (EE) at SiliconTech, the engineering institute of Silicon University, collaborated with the Silicon Innovation Promotion Cell (SIPC) to organize a Skill Project Exhibition on 9 May 2024.
The objective of the exhibition was to equip students with the knowledge and tools needed for product design and Proof of Concept (PoC) development. It focused on teaching basic prototype development skills to nurture a new generation of skilled creators who can turn ideas into products. The exhibition aimed to help students bridge the gap between concept and reality by fostering a creative and hands-on learning environment.
The exhibition comprised of innovative technical prototypes displayed by the students to showcase their innovation. The event fostered creativity where participants had the chance to solve real-world problems with technical solutions and win exciting prizes.
A total of 150 students from the sixth-semester Electronics Engineering (EE) branch formed 30 teams to participate in the event. Our faculty members, including Prof. Saroj Rout, Prof. Jayakrushna Mohanty, Prof. Jayant Praharaj, and Prof. Rajan Mishra, evaluated the prototypes.
The winners of the exhibition were Amlan Aditya, Raj Rajeswar, Abhijit Raj, and Ranjit Sahu for their innovation, the ‘Heartsync Device’.
Two teams jointly secured the second position in the exhibition. Divyaswarup Mishra, Jayashree Kundu, Smruti Sagarika Bardhan, Gargi Mohanty, Sruti Nayak, and Aniket Singh developed their prototype, a ‘GPS enabled accident detection and alert system’. Subhashree Subudhi, Subhashree Subhasmita, Shradha Suman Lenka, Amrit Siddhi Rout, and Sumedha Ghosh designed the ‘Crop Suggestion and Auto Irrigation’ model. Both teams were jointly awarded the second prize.
Similarly, the third position was also jointly won by two teams. Abhijeet Bhattacharjee, Dibyajyoti Mishra, Sonal Sharma, Narayan Nayak won the third prize for their idea ‘Smart Drip Irrigation System’ while Swarup Nandan Das, Sai Sradha Pattanaik, Siddharth K.Gope, Ranjeet Singh, and Nutan Prasad Panda won the prize for their prototype ‘Aquazen Tech: A Smart water quality regulating system’.
Three other teams were awarded consolation prizes for their ideas. Himanshu Sahu, Dibyansh Baranwal, Adarsh Amrit, Subha Sanket Mishra and Reetika Sahoo developed the ‘Water leakage detection’. Armaan Biswal, Bibhu Prasad Sahu, and Aaditi Baral displayed their prototype on ‘IoT enabled stress monitoring watch’ and Sailesh Mishra showcased his idea ‘IoT based smart hydroponics system using NFT’.
The event concluded successfully, with students demonstrating impressive creativity and technical skills. The exhibition highlighted the potential for innovative ideas to become practical solutions, marking a significant achievement for all participants.
