Silicon University organizes a workshop on ‘Machine Learning’

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) at SiliconTech, the engineering institute of Silicon University, collaborated with the Google Developer Students Club (GDSC) to organize a workshop on ‘Machine Learning’ from 24-26 April 2024.

The objective of the three-day workshop was to give participants a thorough understanding of machine learning ideas and applications. It encouraged engagement and active involvement at different levels as it was designed to accommodate hands-on sessions.

The workshop was conducted by Ansuman Parija, AI/ML Lead at GDSC, Silicon. On the first day, he focused on the basics of machine learning. Key topics such as supervised and unsupervised learning, regression, classification, clustering, and various machine learning models were covered comprehensively. Participants gained insights into essential frameworks and tools utilized in the development of machine learning applications.

The second day of the workshop emphasized practical applications, featuring case studies and interactive labs to solidify understanding of machine learning frameworks and libraries such as sci-kit-learn, pandas, and Numpy. Participants engaged in hands-on tasks with datasets and coding exercises. Real-world case studies demonstrated how machine learning is applied across various fields, enhancing participants’ comprehension of its practical uses.

During the concluding session on the last day, a comprehensive project demonstration highlighted essential elements such as data pre-processing, model development, evaluation, and validation.

By providing participants with a solid understanding of machine learning and practical application experience, the workshop successfully achieved its objectives. Participants benefited from a thorough and enriching educational journey that included instructional sessions, hands-on labs, and project-based learning.
