Silicon University organizes a Workshop on ‘Robotics’

The Robotics and Circuit Club at SiliconTech, the engineering institute of Silicon University organized a workshop on ‘Robotics’ on 26 April 2024.

The objective of the workshop was to share the latest research and developments in robotics, including practical sessions to enhance participants’ skills. Additionally, it sought to foster brainstorming and collaboration on new robotics projects by networking with industry professionals and leaders.

The event’s keynote speaker, Mr. Satish Kumar Das, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electronics Engineering (EE), discussed the future of robotics, emphasizing autonomous systems and their potential applications. Another engaging talk by Priyanshu Das, one of our students, focused on advancements in line followers and manual robots, highlighting the impact of robotics on manufacturing efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

The workshop covered various topics, including an introduction to robotics, which provided an overview of basic concepts, history, and the evolution of robotics technology. It also featured a session on autonomous line followers, discussing robots designed to follow a predefined path, typically a line on the floor. Additionally, a hands-on session on robotics programming and control involved programming robots using Python and ROS (Robot Operating System). The concluding session on manual robots explored manually controlled robots, operated by humans using a remote control or other interfaces.

The participants gave positive feedback on the workshop’s organization, content, and practical sessions with several of them appreciating the chance to gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge technology.
