Silicon University organizes an expert talk on ‘Sequence Modeling in Large Language Models’

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), at SiliconTech, the engineering institute of Silicon University, in association with the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) student branch, organized an expert talk on ‘Sequence Modeling in Large Language Models’ on 22 November 2025.

The objective of the session was to provide students and faculty with a deeper understanding of sequence modeling techniques used in large language models. Dr. Mishra covered fundamental topics such as attention mechanisms and transformer architectures, which have become essential in building highly efficient and scalable language models. He also discussed recent advancements in the field, emphasizing the growing importance of these models in solving complex real-world problems across industries like healthcare, finance, and content creation. Additionally, the talk highlighted the vast research opportunities available for students in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Natural Language Processing (NLP), motivating them to pursue innovative work in this rapidly evolving field.

The session was delivered by Dr. Subhankar Mishra, a faculty member from the School of Computer Sciences at NISER, Odisha. Dr. Mishra’s expertise in AI and NLP made this talk an enriching experience for all attendees.

Dr. Mishra’s presentation was highly interactive, engaging the audience with real-world examples and insights into the practical applications of large language models. He addressed questions from students and faculty, encouraging a dynamic discussion on the future of AI. The session not only deepened the attendees’ knowledge of cutting-edge technologies but also inspired them to explore potential research areas and careers in the fields of AI and NLP.

Overall, the event was a great success, providing both technical insights and practical knowledge. Faculty and students appreciated the clarity with which Dr. Mishra explained complex concepts, making the subject matter accessible and relevant. The talk served as a valuable platform for expanding knowledge on sequence modeling in large language models and fostering interest in AI and NLP research among the university community.
