SiliconTech, the engineering institute of Silicon University, organized its annual technological festival ‘NIRMAN 3.0’ in collaboration with the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) from 19 February to 21 February 2024.
The objective of this event was to assist the students in developing and exploring their technical proficiency. Students had the opportunity to make their ideas a reality. They developed prototype models and competed with students from various institutes. The participants were also introduced to the startup and innovation ecosystem cultures through this event.
The inauguration ceremony of NIRMAN 3.0 was held on 19 February 2024. The inauguration comprised of thought-provoking speeches by notable individuals who have made significant contributions to the field of academia and industry. The insightful speeches were delivered by Dr. Jaideep Talukdar, Vice Chancellor of Silicon University, Shri J B Pany, Chairperson of the ICC Odisha State Council, Dr. Sanjay Pattnaik, Convenor of the HR & IR committee, ICC Odisha State Council, Dr. Mahendra Prasad Agasty, President of the Institute Innovation Council of Silicon, Shri Sunil Taneja, Managing Director, Kasi Sales & Services, Dr. Ashok Badamali, Founder and CEO of Inofinity Research and Development, Shri G G Pal, Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Vedanta, and Shri Jyoti Prakash Pal, Director & Regional Head of ICC Odisha State Council.
Shri Pankaj Satija, Executive in charge of the Ferro Alloys and Minerals Division (FAMD) at Tata Steel, shared a message with the audience commending Nirman 3.0 for its role in nurturing creativity and advancing technology. In his message, he highlighted the event’s alignment with the National Education Policy 2020, emphasizing robotics and coding to cultivate innovation, scientific temperaments, and creativity among students. This initiative aims to shape the next generation of tech professionals, contributing to the vision of “Atmanirbhar Bharat” and creating a myriad of career prospects.
This year, NIRMAN 3.0 introduced a colourful mascot, Annie, to add more vibrance to the event. Five exciting events conducted in this year’s technical fest included Robo Race, Robo Sumo, Line Follower, Ideate, and Hackathon. Each of these events was thoughtfully crafted to both challenge and inspire participants.
A total of 1113 students participated in different events. The participants came from different colleges across the state including Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT), Bhubaneswar, Institute of Technical Education and Research (ITER), Bhubaneswar, CV Raman Global University, Bhubaneswar, Odisha University of Technology and Research (OUTR), Bhubaneswar, Central Tool Room & Training Centre (CTTC), Bhubaneswar, Buxi Jagabandhu Bidyadhar (BJB) Autonomous College, Bhubaneswar, Gandhi Institute of Technological Advancement (GITA), Bhubaneswar, GIET University Gunupur, National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER), Bhubaneswar, International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Bhubaneswar, Parala Maharaja Engineering College (PMEC), Berhampur, Indira Gandhi Institute of Technology (IGIT), Sarang, Khalikote University, Berhampur, Biju Patnaik Institute of Information Technology and Management Studies (BIITM), Bhubaneswar, Trident Academy of Technology, Bhubaneswar, Nalanda Institute of Technology, Bhubaneswar, Einstein Academy of Technology and Management, Bhubaneswar and Padmashree Krutartha Acharya College of Engineering (PKACE), Bargarh.
Silicon students won numerous prizes in various events. Team ‘The Blessings’ comprising of Priyabrat Omm Kumar, Aditya Raghubanshi Jena and
Alok Ranjan Sahoo was the winner of the Line Follower competition. Team ‘SparkRust’ with Shruti Arya Biswal Arpita Pani and Prasnjit Biswal won the 2nd runners-up in Line Follower. Team ‘LogiMasters’ comprising of Dharmaraj Jena and Nischint Dash were the winners of the Idea Presentation Competition. Team ‘Genesis’ comprising of Priyanshu Mallick, Swastik Nayak,
Anshuman Nayak, Chandan Kumar Nayak and Badal Samal won the second prize in the Hacknation Competition.
NIRMAN 3.0 was an exceptionally successful event, with enthusiastic participants exhibiting their extraordinary abilities and skills. The event concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Sudhansu Mohan Biswal Faculty-in-Charge of Silicon’s Student Innovation and Promotion Cell (SIPC).
