The Meta Academics Cell at SiliconTech, the engineering institute of Silicon University, organized Open Mic 2025 on 13 November 2025.
The key objectives of Open Mic 2025 were to provide a creative platform for students to showcase their talents in various artistic forms, encouraging them to refine their skills and explore new modes of expression. The event aimed to build confidence in students by helping them overcome stage fright and enhancing their public speaking abilities. Additionally, the event sought to promote cultural enrichment on campus by celebrating diverse creative expressions and fostering a sense of community among students. Lastly, it focused on skill development, particularly in creativity, spontaneity, storytelling, humor, and emotional communication.
The evening unfolded with a series of performances that highlighted the diverse talents of the participants. The lively interaction between the performers and the audience contributed to an energetic and supportive environment, allowing participants to showcase their abilities with confidence. The event concluded with a year-round report presentation by the Joint Secretary, followed by a formal vote of thanks from the Executive Secretary, marking the end of a successful and enriching evening. From emotional poetry recitals to engaging storytelling and hilarious stand-up comedy, the performances captivated the around more than fifty audience members.
The Judge’s Choice award went to Souvik Mahapatra, (CSE, 1st year) with Sindhuja Gouda, (ECE, 2nd year) securing the runner-up position. The Audience Choice (Popular Vote) award was presented to Abhinash Sahoo, (CSE, 2nd year). The event was judged by Ms. Samparna Das and Dr. Subhashree Ojha, who provided insightful feedback and encouragement to all participants. Overall, Open Mic 2025 proved to be a resounding success, strengthening the campus’s cultural fabric and providing students with an invaluable opportunity for personal and creative growth.
