The Eco-Social Club at SiliconTech, the engineering institute of Silicon University, organized ‘URVION 2026’, a two-day awareness program on 16 and 17 January 2026, aimed at promoting environmental consciousness, innovation, and problem-solving among students.
The event provided a platform for participants to transform their ideas into practical solutions by leveraging technology and teamwork. Its primary objectives were to inspire students to take active roles in environmental conservation and social responsibility while fostering leadership skills.
The event was inaugurated on 16 January at the University auditorium, in the presence of dignitaries including Mr. Santosh Dev Thakur, CEO, Campus View and TEDx speaker, Prof. Pradipta Kumar Mohapatra, Registrar, Silicon University, and Dr. Biswajit Baral, Faculty-In-Charge, Silicon Students’ Council. The inauguration featured a lamp-lighting ceremony symbolizing knowledge, innovation, and positive change, setting the tone for the event’s focus on sustainability.
‘URVION 2026’ featured three major competitions- War for Survival, EcoHack, and Green Ideathon. War for Survival witnessed enthusiastic participation from 58 teams comprising 172 students. Designed as an immersive strategic simulation, the competition focused on crisis management, leadership, decision-making under pressure, and team coordination. Based on performance in the initial round, selected teams advanced to the final round held on 17 January 2026. In the final round, teams were evaluated on adaptability, teamwork, execution, and strategic thinking. Team Aryabhatta from BIITM emerged as the winner, while Team Nature Shield from Silicon University secured the runner-up position.
The second event, EcoHack, was a 10-hour sustainability-focused hackathon conducted on 17 January 2026. The hackathon saw participation from 29 teams, including 20 teams from Silicon University and 9 teams from other colleges, encouraging diverse perspectives and collaborative problem-solving. Participants developed technology-driven solutions addressing real-world environmental challenges. Projects were evaluated on the basis of technical innovation, feasibility, scalability, and societal impact. The judging panel comprised Mr. Adhiraj Mohapatra, Founder of Urban Hyphae Bioscience, and Mr. Akash Jaiswal, Founder and CEO of Wooble. Team Timeless from GIFT Autonomous College won the competition for their innovative and practical solution, while Team Byte Empires from Silicon University emerged as the runner-up.
The Green Ideathon, held on 17 January 2026, provided a platform for participants to present innovative, feasible, and sustainability-oriented ideas addressing contemporary environmental challenges. A total of 35 teams participated, including 28 teams from Silicon University and 7 teams from other colleges. The ideas were evaluated based on innovation, sustainability, feasibility, scalability, and presentation quality. The judging panel included Mr. Santosh Dev Thakur, Founder and CEO of CampusView, Mr. Adhiraj Mahapatra, Founder of Urban Hyphae Biosciences, Dr. Sudhansu Mohan Biswal, Associate Professor at Silicon University, and Mr. Satish Kumar Das, Assistant Professor at Silicon University. Team Eco Vengers from Silicon University secured the winner’s position, while Team Limits from CV Raman Global University was declared the runner-up.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks acknowledging the efforts of the participants, resource persons, judges, volunteers, and organizing committee members. With 434 participants across all events, ‘URVION 2026’ became a vibrant platform for showcasing innovation, sustainability, and teamwork. The event not only allowed students to collaborate on real-world environmental issues but also provided them with valuable insights from the distinguished judging panel.
